About Ryan McCarthy
Passion is defined as a strong or extravagant fondness, enthusiasm, or desire for anything. Passion is something that controls my drive for the arts.
As a young child I picked up my first pencil and fell in love with drawing. My desire to be a better artist fueled my career path, first as a graphic artist and web designer, and now as a professional photographer. I approach a shoot in a very artistic way, whether it be a wedding, family portraits, or shooting for my personal projects. I try to balance a photo journalistic approach with the eye of a cinematographer. The dichotomy between the two is what makes my photographs modern, clean and unique.
I use a Canon 5d Mark ii as my primary camera. I have two external flashes, and one Ex560 ii. Lenses I currently use are a 24-70mm 2.8f, a 50mm 1.4f, 85mm 1.8f, the 70-200mm 2.8f, and a 100mm macro (all Canon lenses). I have four 32GB compact flash cards to make sure I can handle around 4000+ photos. I shoot in RAW, and edit with Aperture 3, Lightroom 3, and Adobe Photoshop CS5 Professional.
My wife, Dionna, is my biggest fan. She is amazing to put up with my hectic schedule and constant work drive. She actually has to remind me to take breaks.
If you have any questions or just want to chat over coffee I would love to hear from you.
As almost any grandmother the world over will tell you…next to the love for our children, the love for our grandchildren is paramount! I am Vanessa’s mom. She is the jewel of my heart. You are correct in the obvious love both she and Jason have for their wonderful children. I adore how you captured the tenderness Zoe and Griffin have for each other. They ARE darling and beautiful, of course, and your photos reflect their charm. The colored photos capture their great coloring (eyes, hair, skin) and the black and white photos(my favorite genre) narrow down the essence of their beauty and gives a simplicity to the art. Thank you for being such a good friend to our children.
